Overview

The Cedar Sapling Program provides culturally-specific, community-centered home visiting services for expectant caregivers and families with children birth through five (5). Family Advocates share child development, caregiving education, and family well-being resources and information through individualized visits and community-based gatherings.

khánumakwst time (kahn-uh-maw-kst)

Translating to “together” in chinuk wawa, khánumakwst times are monthly opportunities where families can connect individually with their Family Advocate in person or virtually. During visits, Family Advocates support child-centered and family-centered goal planning, share age- and culturally-appropriate activities and books, and connect families with resources to support their overall well-being.

The first eight khánumakwst times are dedicated to building a trusting relationship between families and their Family Advocate. Afterward, each visit is personalized to honor the family’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals.

Cedar Circles

Cedar Circles consist of bimonthly Family Gatherings and Caregiver Wellness Nights that occur on the first Tuesday evening & third Tuesday evening of the month, offering space for a shared meal, social connection, and shared learning between families.

Families are welcome to attend a Cedar Circle whether or not they are enrolled in the program. Join us to meet our team, learn more about the Cedar Sapling Program, and explore how to get involved.

Family Wellness Fairs

Twice each year, the Cedar Sapling Program brings together families, community partners, and wellness providers to celebrate health, connection, and collective well-being. These gatherings create a welcoming space where families can build relationships with trusted providers, learn about community resources, access health screenings, and explore wellness education in a supportive, family-centered environment. By fostering connection and reducing barriers to care, these events strengthen community relationships and increase access to culturally responsive services, while providing space for traditional and mainstream wellness practices to be shared, honored, and uplifted.
